Hey guys! Today I have a short one for ya: Instead of playing simple vanilla triads for each chord, here are two alternatives to use for a more modern and textured sound. 1) break the root chord into a triad, play it with a rhythmic "ostinato" effect, and change your left hand bass notes but not your right hand.
2) play the root and the fifth of your root note chord, chunk it rhythmically while you change your left hand bass notes. Same etheral modern, ambient effect, just a different variation.
If your worship leaders or piano players are wanting to sound a bit more contemporary, AND simplify their playing, this tricks have worked well for me for the past 15 years of worship leading in various contexts.
What about you guys? Do you have any simple tricks you wanna share?
