Use The Piano As A Drum (Easy Trick To Sound Better On Piano)

I am a huge advocate for playing the piano like a bell. Hit the chord, let is ring out, and don’t feel the need to cover every subdivision (8th note, etc)
However, if you have finesse (can play notes quietly and cleanly) then this next trick is for you.
By treating the piano more like a drum, it can help us engage with the rhythm and feel of the song better. By putting all the little “shaker” beats (8ths, 16ths) in our arms, going up and down over the piano, we can get nice and lost in the pocket.
So, instead of thinking like a piano player, think like a drummer.Boom, kah, boom boom kah, Your left hand is the “boom”, and your right hand is the “kah”.
So, the bass notes of the piano chord are your bass drum, and the right hand, higher notes, are your snare drums.
Just split the chord up into it’s two halves (bass note and treble notes, left hand and right hand) and bang away, like your playing two congas.
