Does Acoustic Guitar Always Have to Be Boring?
Here are 3 simple ways to spice up your acoustic playing.
1. The “Ducka-Ducka” Method
Hit the root/bass note of the chord. (Down Stroke)
Follow it with a mid-string note. (Up Stroke)
Repeat the back-and-forth while keeping the groove steady.
2. The Punk Rocker Method
Instead of strumming all six strings, narrow your focus to just the lowest three or four. This trims off the bright, jangly highs and leaves you with a darker, punchier sound.
3. The Flat-Picking Starter
Start your strum pattern with three strong down-picks on the lowest strings of the chord.
Bringing Old Songs to Life
Use these ideas and apply them to old classic songs, like hymns for church. It can make older music sound new again.
